Douyin for software and industrial brands: what actually works

Douyin is usually filed under consumer marketing, and for most B2B software that assumption is wrong in both directions. A generic dance video will not sell an industrial CAD tool. But a 45-second screen recording that shows a real workflow being solved in half the usual time reaches exactly the engineers you cannot find through other channels.

What a technical audience watches

On Douyin, professional content works when it is specific. The formats that hold attention for a technical product:

The first two seconds decide everything

Douyin's distribution is driven by completion and interaction, and both are decided in the opening seconds. There is no room for a logo animation and a corporate introduction. The first frame must already show something the viewer wants to know.

We write the script on a frame budget: what the viewer sees, hears and reads at second zero to two, then where the payoff lands. Subtitles are burned in because most viewing is silent.

Production realism

High production value is not the goal; clarity is. A clean screen recording with accurate Chinese subtitles consistently outperforms a polished studio shoot that says nothing concrete. For industrial products, phone footage from a real site often performs better than a produced video.

What we insist on: correct terminology on screen, readable text at phone size, and no claim in the video that your product cannot support.

From views to conversations

Views are a means, not the outcome. Each video is paired with a destination: a comment reply flow, a direct-message script, or a landing surface written in Chinese that continues the explanation.

We triage inbound messages daily, separate genuine enquiries from noise, and pass the genuine ones to you with context. Response time matters more on Douyin than on any written channel.

What we do not promise

We do not promise a viral video. Distribution on Douyin depends on factors no agency controls. What we do promise is a consistent, technically accurate output that compounds: a library of demonstrations that keeps working long after publication.

Questions we get asked

Does Douyin work for a product with a small Chinese audience?

It can, because Douyin reaches beyond the audience you can identify in advance. The trade-off is volume: a narrow technical topic produces fewer views but a higher proportion of relevant viewers. We set expectations on absolute numbers accordingly.

Do we need to appear on camera?

Usually not. Screen recordings, product footage and text-led edits cover most technical products. A presenter helps for opinion-led content, but it is not a requirement to start.

Can the same video be used on other platforms?

Parts of it, but not the same edit. Aspect ratio, pacing and subtitle style differ between Douyin, Xiaohongshu and video-first channels, and a straight repost underperforms on all of them.

How many videos per month?

Four to eight is a workable starting cadence for a technical product with reusable source material. Consistency matters more than the exact number.

Do you handle comments and direct messages?

Yes, as part of operation. We reply within the platform's rules, and escalate anything commercial or technical to you rather than improvising an answer.
